Flavor Forward Peas Recipe
Can we keep it real for a minute? Peas are boring…bland…blah. They naturally taste like pasty nothingness. Frankly, I wouldn’t even have given them the time of day on our website but those tiny balls of tasteless mush are PACKED with nutrients. So, we made some room for them here and with the seasoning suggestions below you can take your baby’s peas from dull to DOPE! I mean, that stills feels a bit generous for peas but they are pretty tasty after you hook them up with some herbs and spices.

- 1 cup of frozen or fresh peas
- 1/8 tsp of cumin
- 1/4 tsp of minced garlic
- small pinch of black pepper
- 3 tbsp of breastmilk or water

- Place a steamer insert into a saucepan and fill with water to just below the bottom of the steamer. Bring water to a boil. Add peas, cover, and steam until tender, about 15 minutes.
- Place peas, breast milk/water, and spices (garlic, black pepper, cumin) in a blender or food processor and puree until creamy. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any lumps.
- Spread pea mixture into an ice cube tray, cover with plastic wrap and freeze until solid, 2 to 3 hours. Transfer frozen cubes to a resealable plastic bag and store in the freezer.
- To serve, heat cubes in the microwave for about 30 seconds until warm but not hot. Stir thoroughly.
